A personal friend of Pastor Trae's is releasing a book on his story of surviving the Rwandan genocide. The book tells the story of six-year-old Bikonzi Moise who, along with his mother and six siblings, is torn from his home and forced into a concentration camp during the Second Congo War. Childhood soccer matches are replaced by starvation tactics, and this Tutsi boy knows only one thing for sure: God is gone, and Death now reigns. So, when Hutu soldiers come in the night and fellow prisoners begin vying for power, the Moise family is left with just one choice: survive, no matter what compromises and sacrifices it takes.
With themes of faith and resilience, the power of the human spirit, and the importance of human connectedness, this is a resonant and sobering tale of cultural and historical significance that gives clear and evocative insight into our human condition.
